DUOBBRAK was created to eliminate any unexpected events.
Welcome to the technical introduction.
Here we will delve into the technical operation of DUOBBRAK, the fundamental principles, its design, and the key advantages it offers.
What is the overrunning joint / freewheeling / freewheel?

Used from bicycles to helicopters:
1 - "Resists" enormous loads,
2 - "Approved for road and air traffic,"
3 - "Saves lives,"
and it's also a crucial device for aircraft safety (with the loss of engine power, it can autorotate in a controlled manner).
Why not use it where there are many victims?

DUOBBRAK is the technological innovation that represents a leap forward in the world of automotive safety, solving fundamental issues with current braking systems.
This revolutionary system is ergonomic and provides stopping distances up to eight times shorter, as demonstrated by tests.
But let's go beyond the numbers and explore how to address the main issues with traditional braking systems.
Problems in Traditional Braking Systems
One of the main problems is the wear and tear of brakes and their related components.

This wear and tear process is caused by friction during braking, which leads to material consumption, the formation of debris, and overheating.
Consequently, with the heat generated, the braking force decreases over time, posing a risk to road safety.

Braking distances are significantly longer when friction is “grazing”.

Traditional systems have delays, and the braking force is not constant; some rotations that cannot be used for optimal braking are generated.
Reading, interpreting, and correcting information takes time, and redistributing the braking between the axles also takes time.

With the current system, it’s impossible to simultaneously utilize all the rolling friction of all the wheels in a constant manner.

DUOBBRAK overcomes these fundamental challenges, providing greater braking force and significantly improving precision in the intervention.
But that’s not all.

This innovative device helps increase the efficiency and lifespan of the current braking system, offering an excellent long-term solution.
While significantly enhancing vehicle safety and functionality, it reduces the costs and complexity of electromechanical actuators.
The Importance of Current Braking Systems
It is essential to emphasize that, despite the issues, “current” braking systems are vital to ensure road safety.

They collaborate with other safety and driver assistance systems, such as ESP and assisted braking, to create a safer driving environment.

However, these systems can experience malfunctions or failures, highlighting the important need for a new device to ensure safety.
What is DUOBBRAK?

It is the “active mechanical braking force distributor with automatic anti-lock purely mechanical,” and it’s a breakthrough in the field of automotive braking.
Its name comes from the fusion of two words.
From the Latin “DUO,” as it allows for the realization of a double braking system that we have needed for a long time, highlighting its ability to ensure safe and reliable braking in the event of failures.
From the English word “BRAKE,” in “BBRAK,” as the device alone brakes harder, earlier, and in less space.
How to create DUOBBRAK?

To build DUOBBRAK, we “take” a 4WD transmission.
In place of the central differential we install the free wheel (12).
Together with the front central drive shaft (13) and the rear central shaft (11) we will have a one-way clutch (12) which allows us to exploit all the rolling friction available from both axles.

The clutch (12) can be positioned in other places (the important thing is to respect the direction).
Below, we illustrate a front-wheel-drive (FWD) all-electric vehicle (21).
DUOBBRAK in Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) Vehicles

By braking with the generator (21), the coupling (12) balances and distributes the force exerted between the front and rear, constantly exploiting all the rolling friction of all the wheels (contrary motion of the the 1/8 On Road setup).
In this mode DUOBBRAK guarantees more precise and controlled braking, which can also be achieved with the front brakes alone.
With the existing brakes and the generator (21) you get the double system (you have more strength and the strength remains available for longer to always stop in very short spaces, greater road safety).

In case of braking with alternator (21) or other device, the maneuvering lever is advantageous (thanks to the coupling between pinion (16) and front crown).
To create DUOBBRAK it is possible to install any type of braking system (such as retarder or other less ecological options instead of the generator 21).
DUOBBRAK is completely eco-friendly and other systems are also more environmentally friendly.

With DUOBBRAK you recover all the braking from a single point (saving expensive materials and components).
You only need one electric motor/generator (21) and only one inverter.

This solution reduces the demand for “precious” materials (whose extraction process is harmful to the environment – less pollution).
Everything is simpler, faster production and lower production costs (no other control units are needed and no additional wiring is needed).

In buses, trucks and similar vehicles, DUOBBRAK alone may not be enough to replicate the performance achieved in 2019.
Strong and repeated braking carried out by large vehicles causes a decline in stopping performance (affects both existing braking systems and the device used to activate DUOBBRAK).

The double braking system, however, always guarantees maximum performance, even in the event of a fault, guaranteeing the best possible braking performance.
This offers maximum protection to all occupants of the vehicle.

With DUOBBRAK, vehicles come to a stop more quickly because it eliminates any delays, even the most pronounced ones inherent in multi-axle vehicles.
The dual brake system releases fewer fine dust particles, reducing the wear and tear on conventional braking systems and thus reducing pollution.
This approach improves efficiency, as the components run cooler, and braking performance remains more consistent, leading to greater road safety.
DUOBBRAK, in hybrid vehicles.

In this configuration the vehicle remains in 2-wheel drive (2WD) mode when traveling at a constant speed.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) with the electric motor (21) and/or rear-wheel drive (RWD) with the internal combustion engine (22).
The constant speed transmission has no friction, consequently the vehicle consumes less and pollution is reduced.
By accelerating with the electric motor (21) the vehicle remains FWD automatically and the transmission remains frictionless.
By accelerating with the internal combustion engine (22), the vehicle becomes all-wheel drive (4WD).
The stability of the vehicle remains constant even when accelerating suddenly.
This configuration is versatile and efficient, improves fuel economy and minimizes the environmental impact when driving at constant speed.

The force distribution between front and rear is constantly balanced, both during acceleration and braking, thanks to the high-speed response of the joint (12).
Load transfers are balanced and are managed effectively in all conditions, resulting in more precise and safer corrections.
The absence of change in weight distribution ensures the vehicle’s dynamics that improve occupant comfort and offer a more pleasant driving experience.
It also offers greater precision and driving control, which directly translates into greater road safety.

With DUOBBRAK, your vehicle can turn faster and more precisely even in the tightest braking distances, ensuring additional safety.
The reduction of violence in impacts combined with always usable corrections reduce damage to the vehicle to a minimum, helping to keep insurance costs under control.
With less damage to vehicles, the materials to be disposed of or recycled are reduced, resulting in a reduction in environmental pollution.

DUOBBRAK is responsive and you can use low gears with locked front and rear differentials even on any surface without causing damage to mechanical components.
DUOBBRAK is responsive even at high speeds, improving the overall performance of the transmission and braking systems.
This results in minimal mechanical stress and eliminates parasitic friction in the transmission.
In addition to reducing fuel consumption, there is less tire wear both in normal use and during braking.
There is less release of large particles and nano-particles, less pollution.
DUOBBRAK in 4WD vehicles

DUOBBRAK in 4WD offers numerous other advantages and benefits, (21).

The center differential costs much more than the upper joint and weighs up to 10 times more.
It affects the total weight of the vehicle.

The overdrive joint costs much less and weighs very little.
The weight reduction is directly on the inertial mass of the transmission.
There are further performance improvements in acceleration and braking.

Similar to the overdrive system used in 1/8 On Road racing, DUOBBRAK disconnects the front and rear axles.
This eliminates mechanical resistance to movement, prolongs the life of transmission components, and enables higher top speeds.

Power is transmitted to the affected axle first and the joint (12) transmits the extra torque as soon as the tires start to slip.
During braking, the joint (12) redirects power to the rear center half-shaft (11) and restores traction.
During acceleration, the joint (12) transmits power to the front central half-shaft (13).
Without delays and without electronics, the process is repeated continuously in both directions until the maximum rolling friction of all wheels is reached.

DUOBBRAK in rear-wheel-drive (RWD)

You can install DUOBBRAK in rear-wheel drive vehicles and:
1- Brake harder and later, (for overtaking never seen before).
2- Choose whether to recover all the kinetic energy from braking.
3- You have all the accumulated braking energy immediately available.
4- You have more efficiency and more reliability to guarantee your safety.
5- More regular tire wear with fewer tire changes.

You can use DUOBBRAK (12) with the multi-disc pack (15) (or other similar devices).
Accelerate and with the multi-disc pack (15) (or other device) completely disconnecting the mechanical linkage and the vehicle remains RWD.
Brake and reactivate the connection is reactivated with which you use the generator (21) together with the traditional front brakes (18) to obtain increasingly superior decelerations.
A system that gives maximum entertainment only with pilots who know how to reach new limits.
DUOBBRAK adapts to any need and complies with the strictest regulations.

The freewheel becomes a one-way braking clutch that works in a completely new way.

The original arrangement of the overrunning clutch (12) does not affect or alter the operation of any safety apparatus.

The original arrangement (12) makes the one-way and two-way clutch “eternal” (receives low torque, never reaches high speeds that could damage it, no oil changes, no regular maintenance, always ready and efficient, reliable and no electronic controls).
Greater reliability and at the same time continuously eliminates any parasitic friction.
DUOBBRAK is the state of the art of the two-way clutch.

The contribution of DUOBBRAK to automotive safety
The Importance of Automotive Safety
Road safety is an absolute priority in the automotive industry.

The year 2022 witnessed the recall of over 1,002,200 vehicles, including recent production models, due to brake issues, according to ANSA.
These incidents have had a significant impact on road safety and raised the fundamental question:
How can we ensure reliable and safe braking in any situation?
In addition to all the vehicles recalled due to brake problems, there is an even more staggering statistical fact.

This statistical data has raised the same fundamental question:
- How can we improve road safety in any situation?
DUOBBRAK and the dual braking system are the answer to this question.
DUOBBRAK
DUOBBRAK is a technology aimed at reducing the number of serious road accidents.

This technological innovation is fast and works together with all active safety systems.
It represents a significant step forward in the world of automotive safety.
With DUOBBRAK, the uncertainties of traditional braking systems are eliminated, ensuring safer and more peaceful driving.

DUOBBRAK has no emissions and reduces those emitted (preserving air quality) and lowers production costs (no electronics, fewer components, and materials).
It improves vehicle smoothness, providing a more fluid drive that reduces consumption (fuel consumption decreases in “overdrive”), benefiting both ecologically and economically.
Why the double braking system?

After heavy braking, traditional systems experience a decrease in stopping power (as well as the device used to operate DUOBBRAK).
The dual braking system improves efficiency, which means avoiding disastrous failures and the resulting total loss of braking capacity.

The dual system further enhances braking performance, enabling us to achieve even higher braking performance.
It maintains shorter stopping distances for a longer duration, ensuring greater road safety, thanks to the increased efficiency that keeps the braking force available for longer.

The greater efficiency and longer-term benefits further reduce costs and the overall environmental impact, resulting in fewer damages in collisions and reduced expenses.
All of this further diminishes serious incidents, and reliability remains continuous. Even in the event of malfunctions or the ineffectiveness of one of the braking systems, the dual system ensures and allows us to utilize the best optimal braking available.
The dual braking system can be installed in almost all motor vehicles, allowing us to implement two different technologies to ensure the best performance.
Thanks to DUOBBRAK, you choose to use the best technologies.
